The final chapter of the OLYMPIC FAVELA project (2012-2016) takes the form of a short documentary film:
OLYMPIC FAVELA examines the relationship the favela residents have with their homes and their communities.
The film portrays two families who are forced to give up their homes and businesses in Favela Vila Autodromo, an idyllic community at the shore of the lagoon of Jacarepagua in close proximity to the newly built Olympic Park.
While one family is torn apart by virtue of how the city allocates replacement housing in hastily built social housing complexes that are located far apart from each other, the other family's new home bears the promise of a new beginning.
